CONSIDERING A CAREER IN FIREFIGHTING?
SAFELANE FIRE TRUCK DRIVER TRAINING will put you through the paces to get your DZ licence in Ontario. We will provide you with the lessons and materials to learn and apply all areas of inspecting and driving a fire truck.

- Schedule 1 defect reporting
- Safe driving techniques
- Safe following distances
- Proper backing skills
- Roadside stop procedures
- Accident avoidance measures
- Brake fade and failure
- Inclement weather and road conditions
- Lane positioning
- Gaining a comfortable level of operation
- Completion of a road test to gain your DZ licence.

DZ Licence Course includes.
Day 1- The Classroom Session- 8:30 am-5:30 pm- 7.75 hours (maximum 6 students)
Day 2- In-truck Lesson One- 4.5 hours (2 students per session)
Day 3- In-truck Lesson Two- 4.5 hours (2 students per session)
Day 4- Use of truck, for Road Test- 1.5 hours (includes free 2-hour review session before)
Total Course Hours- 20.25 hours (plus Pre-Course study Package)

Student chooses In-truck Lesson dates sometime between The Classroom Session and Road-Testing date from a list of available sessions. The course from start date to road testing is between 2-5 weeks on average depending on the pace you desire. You must complete the course within 60 days.

DZ Licence Course- $1099 tuition+ $721 ancillary fee= $1820+ HST
- Please ensure prerequisites under APPLICANT CHECKLIST tab for this course.
- SIGN UP for any course start date. Maximum 6 students per class. 9 am-5 pm.
- MEDICAL FORM and written ministry tests for both D and Z licences shall be completed a minimum of 30 days prior to start date. (print medical form one page/two sided).
- Safelane’s very own course handbook provided for classroom session.
- The Classroom Session covers D and Z licence material both theory and practical truck demonstrations.
- Two in truck lessons (see FAQ).
- Includes use of truck for road test (1.5 hours for road test).
- Road testing is back to back.(4 people per day).
